News ~ Old news items have been placed in the archives. 08/29/04 - **SHOW UPDATE** This is just a quick note to let you all know that the show at Kimo's tommorow is STILL ON. Some dipshit wrote The List and told them that the show was cancelled, but it is not. We certainly hope to see you all out there, and do NOT miss the chance to see the East Coast's most dangerous Grind Assassins, Magrudergrind in action. 08/18/04 Ah, welcome back, all. As summer swiftly wains, we're glad you could spare a minute of your time to catch up with us...read on, and well absorb what little we have to say: We've added some shit to the shows and photography pages, so feel free to check those shits out...thanks must go to the Butcher of Bakersfield herself, Yoko, for her deftly taken photographs from the grindfest. Also, if you're reading this, guy with the Mortician shirt who emailed us from the "McMassacre" email address...we've been trying to email you back for about a week and a half, and they all get rejected, so try to drop us another line with some other way to contact you...also, you never told us what your name is! Whilst there are numerous other things to say, most of them are frivolous...icing on that digital, etheral cake of ones and zeros that we call the internet. All that can wait for fall. Have some fun and sun, ladies...now go on n' git! Oh, yeah, and check us out with Magrudergrind at Kimo's on the 30th. ~ Population Reduction 08/09/04 Well, hello again all. This was a record breaking weekend for us, so grab a nice cup of Earl Gray and your favorite pastry, and enjoy the following tale: After a small debacle at the local Copymat, we set out towards Oakland for the first show of the day...this after recieving an email at noon from the fellas at Jigsore informing us that, despite the email they sent us "Confirming" that the show (which had already had three date and venue changes) started at 1pm, that it in fact started at 4pm. Whoops. Also, it seems that there was some erroneous information regarding Godstomper playing the show. Nevertheless, the show went great. We sweated as we never have before...literally, the shit was pouring off us. Still the crowd was cool, and the highly trained shadow assassin Yoko Kikuchi was there all the way from New York, which made the show extra awsome. The only other bands we got to see were Mutual Abuse (who, incidently, put on a really, really good set) and Brutal Death, who were also good. Then, it was off to Gilman to cover the spot that Ghoul couldn't make. Of course, no Population Reduction show would be complete without at least some confusion, so it turns out that one person booked us for the slot, and someone else booked Brutal Death for it too. In the end, (meaning that after we unloaded the car only to realize that the guitar had been left at Death By Excess Warehouse - it was retrieved with ease) we both played. It was our first time playing Gilman, and the crowd was cool. Unfortunatley, since Pete is an asshole and had to go play a THIRD show in SF (with a different band) after the Gilman show, we had no choice but to miss Dekapitator (whom we can't seem to find a website for, so if anyone knows anything drop us a line. With any luck we'll be able to set something up with them in the future, as they are totally awesome. We'd like to thank everyone who made yesterday go as easily as possible, considering that they chaos involved in playing one show is only tripled when you squeeze in three in a day: Everyone in Death By Excess, Stagemanager Jen, Metal Esther for her prowess in the show attending and information dispersal departments, Brutal Death, A.J. and George, Sean for hooking it up, Yoko and Allan, Greg from Brainoil and that dude with the sunglasses whose name we didn't get (sorry!) for the best fucking Potato Salad we've ever had (and that ain't no shit, neither!), the folk at Jigsore, Col from Dekapitator for his kind words, the kids from Mercitron (who we didn't get to see, but the CD was rad - drop us a line), and everyone else we fucking spaced on at the moment. Anyway, I guess that's about it. Keep an eye out for show updates, and new merch within the coming weeks. We say that shit all the time, but this time, we sincerely intend for it to be true. ~ Population Reduction 08/06/04 - **Last Minute Show Upadate** It's confirmed! We are playing TWO shows tommorow, August 7th. The evening show at Gilman is on. We're up first, so get there early! More info on the shows page. 08/02/04 After a short but eventful trip to New York, Pete is back in town and Population Reduction is back in action. Between cavorting with the beautiful people (read: getting drunk with obnoxious assholes) and attending high level meetings at both the U.N. and the NYSE (read: getting drunk with obnoxious assholes), The One and Only managed to make it downtown where it was discovered that a street name right outside of City Hall had been changed:
N.B. - This picture has NOT been altered in any way. The real question is "Who the fuck signed off on this one?" Well, we'd love to know, too. In more relevant (though certainly not important) news, you should all come check out the show at Death By Excess Warehouse this saturday...it's a great way to spend a saturday afternoon...well, a way to spend it, in any event. Keep checking the shows page too, since there may (emphasis on MAY) be an addition to it later this week. Ya know, there were an ass load of comments in parenthesis in this (the news update, that is). My my, aren't we just the funniest motherfuckers you've ever known (we'll stop now). (Ok, Now.) ~ Population Reduction | |||
