News ~ Old news items have been placed in the archives. 08/22/05 Well, more to say ladies, more to say. Nothing of any import, of course, but then, we here at Population Reduction have never been known for being tight-lipped. Here's the skinny: The first order of business is just to say it: Libertatia. C'mon, say it with me now: LIBERTATIA! Cool. Named after the legendary (and some would argue mythical) anarcho-capitalist/socialist/historians really don't agree on much about it, pirate utopia on the southern end of present day Madagascar, this three day fest was everything we'd hoped it would be and more. We told the story of it while we we're up there, so in order avoid repeating ourselves (not something we avoid at all in coversation, but typing exerts more energy, don't ya know), just check the archives and it's in there somewhere. Point is, last year we played this piece of shit fest in the mountains which we thought would rule, and it turns out that we were surrounded by fascists and hard-rock meatheads. Libertatia was everything that we thought that would be, and we're super stoked to have been a part of it. We got there a little later than we wanted due to the massive hangovers we accrued from Thursday night (long story), but man was this a rager. We both got plastered, played pretty poorly, and couldn't have had more fun doing it. The foam battle-axe war in the pit was worth the price of admission alone, which isn't saying much, because it was free. Still, a rager. Rad. We'd like to send some extra-special super rad awesome points to the following folks for making the weekend as rad as it was: Chief Blackdog and the WHOLE Oakland Pyrate Punx crew for setting up the event and taking care of all the details, Franz Not Bombs for cooking all the killer chow, Becka and Ian for the pic of doom and the food dealing with (?! What's wrong with me?), Roget and the LC Pyrate Punx, That dude who let Pete use his half stack, everyone who rocked out during our set, all the other bands (who all ruled, but special note went to Bristle, One in the Chamber, IWKYF, Lidtoker, Deathtoll and Paxane), Lakis for taking it on the chin (did he make the second show?) and last but SURELY not least, Al Blotto and that other dude whose flashlights I stole. I'm really sorry, fellas, but you got 'em back come morning, and I was hammered out of my skull at the time. BFF, Fuckers! Anyway, other than that we've still got a shitload of other shows coming up (we'll try to get the show listings updated later today). We've got MANY shows in the next few weeks (all that on the shows page) in San Francisco, Oakland, Richmond and Santa Cruz, so please come on out and check one of 'em. It'll be great. All that shit on the shows page. Go. Look. Enjoy. Well, that's about it, I garner. Before we jet, we'd like to take a special second to thank the peoples of Germany and Japan for carrying our 7", thus making amends for the whole World War II thing. Consider yourselves forgiven, guys. Water under the bridge. 08/10/05 Well, we're back again ladies! Glad you're here with us. Let's just get down to it, shall we? We've got some news from the rock n' roll press corps to start things off: Everyone's favorite drummer/label guru, Scotty Karate, was recently engaged in coversation with (seemingly) our biggest fan, Elliot Lange. As those of you who bother to read this know, Elliot writes the Metal column (Zombie Picnic) for the world reknowned publication Maximum Rock N' Roll. He's hyped us in his column a bunch, but appearantly, the powers that be over at MRR have refused to let him review our 7" in the reviews sections because we're "Too Metal for Maximum." I guess this should surprise no one. Still, Elliott will appearantly be reviewing it in his column sometime, so we'll let ya know about that. Also on that front, the 7" has been selling well, so a big thank you to all of you who have picked up a copy. If you haven't yet, you can either score one from us at shows, or from Tankcrimes Records. Other than that, we've got a bunch of shit coming up - check the shows page for when you can catch us next. We've had a lot of people complain that we don't play in the bay itself enough (it's true, we have had a lot of out of town shows recently), but we're working to correct the problem. If you are one of the teeming dozens who care, you can always clear shit up by bookiung us yourself! Really, that's all it takes. Throw a show, ask us to play, we're there. Simple right? Well, there is a little more to say yet, but I'm hacking up a lung (thanks for the disease, Justin!), and I need to shit. So we'll be wrapping this up about now. Got a problem with that? Well, tell it to these dudes. Now THOSE are folk with problems. | ||
